TO ALL OF MY STUDENTS
(Undergraduate, Technical, Graduate,  etc.)
NOW IS THE TIME TO APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS!

If you are seeking funding for your education, the first thing that you should do is
complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form that all
scholarship seekers need to fill out. We will be happy to contact your college's
financial aid counselors to make sure that they are referring you to other sources of
grants or loans available at their particular institution.

Only after completing the FAFSA form should you apply for outside funding. Many
foundations make awards for scholarship programs, which then distribute the funds
according to a variety of criteria KSTB uses specific search criteria to match you with
a potential funder. We do all of the research and request the applications for you- to
be sent to your home. We have no hidden fees. All copies, postage, and phone calls
that need to be made on your behalf are included in your fee.

NON-PROFIT QUESTION OF THE MONTH

Q.  WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF BECOMING A
NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?

A.  I am asked this question on a daily basis. The short answer is:

Non- profit organizations are allowed to solicit donations from the
public. Contributions offer tax benefits to the individual donor.
Many government agencies and charities restrict their grants to
non-profit organizations.
Call today and make your dream a reality!

IMPORTANT
SCHOLARSHIP   INFORMATION!!!

According to Gayle White of the Atlanta Journal Constitution,
more Georgians could get Pell Grants for low-income college
students under President Barack Obama's proposed budget.

The campaign for America's Future, which describes itself as "the
strategy center for the progressive movement" estimates that
8,722 additional Georgia students would receive grants under a
proposal to cut subsides to banks making student loans. Money
formerly paid in subsidies would be redirected to the grants.

Research, Research, RESEARCH!!!

Research,
Research, RESEARCH!!

Did you know that the biggest challenge facing non profits is not raising money?
It is researching to find it!

Today’s non profits face unique fundraising challenges, including an aging donor
pool, increased donor expectations and a growing number of organizations asking prospects for
support. To remain competitive and prosperous, non profits must
conserve resources by utilizing prospect research solutions to focus their efforts on prospects and
donors most likely and able to give.

KSTB specializes in custom-researched and prepared profiles on individual,
corporate, and foundation prospects.

                         Dear Kim...

Dear Kim,
Should a board of directors consist of individuals who reside in another state? Should
they be able to come to the state just to vote?
--Marvella via email from Tampa,
Florida

Dear Marvella,
I am not aware of any state nonprofit corporation law that requires all
board members be members
of the state of incorporation.
Think about it though.  It makes sense to have directors meet in person
when holding their meetings, but many national organizations have directors from various parts of
the county and many directors can participate v
ia phone conference when they are not able to come
to a specific meeting.
The important thing is to have directors who are diverse and can move your
organization forward.
There are several factors to consider when selecting a Board Member.
Geographic criteria are only part of the picture.
